Google Classroom Setup (p01)

Part 1

Spend a couple of minutes setting up Google Classroom on your phone. However, don't worry if something goes wrong and you can't get it set up in the time allowed: you can do it after class if necessary.

1. Download and install the Google Classroom app.
2. Launch it and log in using your SU Google ID, which is your email address followed by @g.syr.edu. For example, I would use wilcoxen@g.syr.edu.
3. Finally, use the "+" icon to add this class. The code number is m3vketp. Spacing it out for clarity: m3 vk et p

Part 2

Find this exercise on the app under either "Stream" or "Classwork" using the icons at the bottom of the screen. The assignment itself will be in the form of an attachment consisting of a link to this page. You can click on the link to see these instructions.

On a blank sheet of paper, or in even in the middle of your notes, please write out brief answers to the following questions:

1. What is your preferred name (that is, what would you like to be called in class)?
2. What are your preferred pronouns?
3. What kind of computer will you be using: a Windows PC, a Mac, or a machine running Linux or another operating system?
4. What version is your operating system? For Macs please list the numerical version if you know it; otherwise list the name.

Then take a photo or a scan of your answers and use the Google Classroom app to submit it. To do that:

1. Open the "Your Work" tab at the bottom of the assignment;
2. Click "Add attachment". It will take a moment to upload and process the file. Once that's done it will appear as a dated attachment. 
3. When it's ready, click "Turn in" to submit it.
