Text in embedded visio diagrams won't print unless the printer resolution is set to 600 dpi or less. This problem also applies to Acrobat's printer driver.
Visio
Problem: dotted or dashed lines around large objects become solid lines when viewed from Word. According to Microsoft, it does this on purpose for reasons having to do with file size. Solution: set registry key MetafileDashLineAsSolid = 0 in Visio's section of the registry.
